Dr. Steven B Norwitz Dr. Steven B. Norwitz

"In the more than 30 years of experience I have had in the practice of plastic surgery, I have seen time and again the importance of our results looking natural. Patients want those things that bother them corrected, but not at the cost of the correction being made obvious. Understanding this principle has helped me provide my patients with the results they expect and deserve."

Dr. Steven Norwitz is President of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons, an organization of over 120 board certified plastic surgeons in New Jersey. He is also the Director of the Monmouth Medical Center Cleft Palate Institute in Long Branch, New Jersey. Dr. Norwitz was selected to receive the Governor's "Humanitarian of the Year" Award for his work in treating indigent, deformed children in third world countries. He was presented with this prestigious award by Governor Christie Whitman.

Dr. Norwitz did his undergraduate training at Rutgers University and graduated with honors in 1963. He then attended Hahnermann Medical College and received his MD degree in 1967. He went on to do his straight surgery internship, his general surgery residency, and his plastic surgery residency at the world famous Kings County Medical Center in New York -- the oldest training program for plastic surgeons in the U.S.

Dr. Norwitz is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He was selected to be a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, an organization of only those Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who have demonstrated superlative skills and vast experience in performing cosmetic surgery of all types.

Dr. Norwitz is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has published and presented numerous papers nationally concerning the cosmetic procedures that he performs.

Dr. Norwitz has been in the private practice of plastic surgery for 30 years. He founded the Plastic Surgery Center in 1973. Dr. Norwitz conceived of and built our present "state-of-the-art" facility in 1985. This unique structure has been featured in the book Building By The Book (Rutgers University Press 1992) and is pictured on its cover.

Dr. Norwitz is well known nationally for his expertise in performing surgery to correct cosmetic "problems" of the face and torso. He also enjoys an excellent reputation for his accomplishments in treating many deformities requiring reconstructive surgery such as cleft lip and cleft palate, trauma, and breast reconstruction.

Dr. Norwitz's mission for the Plastic Surgery Center has always been "to provide natural cosmetic results in a safe and comfortable environment."
